My Dear Parish Family,
On Saturday, September 3 rd at the 4:30pm Mass, Archbishop William Lori will be
the main celebrant as he officially installs me as the 19 th pastor of Saint John.
Following in the footsteps of my predecessors, this is indeed an honor and a
privilege to become the chief shepherd of this amazing parish family. From Main
Street to Monroe Street there has been an abiding presence of the Church in
Westminster and over the course of these coming years we will work together to
build on the tremendous legacy that has already been established. Indeed, we have
a very strong foundation, on which, we will continue to add living stones of faith
with our very lives.
Although September 3 rd takes places during the Labor Day weekend, I pray that
many of you will join me and your fellow parishioners as we begin this new
chapter in our parish’s history. Indeed, this is an opportunity for each and everyone
one of us to join with our archbishop in rededicating ourselves to live out our
baptismal call to be missionary disciples. In the coming days, we will be reaching
out, leaving our comfort zone and asking the Holy Spirit to help us discern wisely
the will of Christ for our faith community. We must have the courage to follow our
savior wherever he might lead. I know that I can count on each every one of our
members to be fully, conscience and active participants in proclaiming the gospel
with joy and giving witness to Jesus in how we live our lives each and every day.
After the installation Mass at 4:30pm we will have dinner in the Portico and will
have the opportunity to celebrate together throughout the evening. Please look for
more information in the coming days on how you can RSVP, so that we know how
many people to expect.
I am already yours, but I can not wait for the opportunity to cross every “T” and
dot every “I” as I proclaim my fidelity to the Church and offer my life in service to
our parish family.
