Middle School Fall Sessions 2017

October 1: The Heart of God & The Trinity

Goals: The goal is to introduce teens to the idea that God’s heart is fully oriented toward love and He desires to gift us with new hearts.The middle school youth will develop a deeper understanding of the mystery of the Trinity and the role of God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

October 8: The Paschal Mystery

Goal: To help the middle school youth understand and apply the Paschal Mystery to their lives.

October 15: The Bible

Goal: To help the middle school youth understand how the Bible was put together and that the Word of God is as living and active today as it was in the days of the biblical writers over 2,000 years ago who were inspired by the Holy Spirit.

October 22: The Mass, Part 1

Goal: To teach the middle school youth the necessity of full, active, and conscious participation at Mass. The session will include a brief overview of the Mass, emphasize Christ’s true presence at Mass, and give the youth the tools and encouragement they need to fully enter into the Mass every time they attend.

October 29: The Mass, Part 2

Goal: For the youth to understand the Scriptural roots of the Eucharist in the Old and New Testaments and to help them have a deeper love of the Eucharist and appreciation for the Mass. Teaching Mass.

November 5: The Eucharist

Goal: To grow not only in our understanding of what the Eucharist is but to fall more in love with the person of Christ in the Eucharist. The group will make a transition in discussion from the bread that we need to physically sustain ourselves to an appreciation of the Eucharist being our spiritual nourishment. Adoration.

November 12: Sacraments of Healing

Goal: For the middle school youth to come to a greater understanding of what the Sacraments of Healing are and why they are so important. Not only will they learn how each Sacrament is administered, they will also understand the power of Jesus as the Divine Physician and the inner workings of grace in these Sacraments. Confession will be part of this day.

November 19: Corporal Works of Mercy

Goal: To introduce the youth to the semester on the seven Corporal Works of Mercy.  The session will emphasize the call to love one another and the dignity of every human person. This will also involve a service project.
