Fr. Mark is delighted to announce that Archbishop William Lori has assigned Fr. Andrew DeFusco as our new associate pastor effective July 1, 2018. Ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in 2014, Fr. Andrew has served for the past four years as associate pastor of the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen. Before ordination, believe it or not, Fr. Andrew served as a seminarian and then deacon at Resurrection of Our Lord in Laurel, Maryland where he served with Fr. Mark from 2012-2014. He also served as a seminarian intern for a summer here at Saint John.
More about our new associate pastor: Father Andrew is one of five children of Caroline and Andrew J. DeFusco who live in Timonium, Maryland. His brother, Matthew DeFusco, was just ordained a transitional deacon and will be ordained a priest for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in June of 2019; however, he says the holiest members of his family are his brothers-in-law!
Father Andrew has a bachelor’s degree in Classics from Hillsdale College in Michigan and taught high school Latin for two years at Holy Family Academy in Manchester, NH before returning to Maryland. He studied theology at the Catholic University of America while attending seminary at Theological College in Washington, D.C.
As Father Andrew prepares to journey with us on the path of missionary discipleship and to answer the call of Archbishop Lori to “become a light brightly visible” we are overjoyed to welcome him as the newest member of our Saint John family.
